The Flag of Nepal is the only national flag that does not present rectangle or square format.
The two triangles represent the mountain range of the Himalayas and the two main religions in the country: Hinduism and Buddhism. The moon represents the Royal House, while the sun symbolizes a branch of Dynasty Rana, dynasty that ran the country from the past until 1961. The red color of the flag is related to the rhododendron color, a plant found in the Himalayan region and one of the symbols of the country (red is also war in victory), while the blue represents peace.
It is also said that the sun and moon represent the hope that Nepal lasts as long as these celestial bodies. These symbols had faces up the reform of the flag in 1962, when they were removed to modernize it.
